Facebook Lottery Scam
Facebook is famous for updating its services and introducing new features regularly. But some scammers have started to use this attribute for their illegal activities. In some cases reported to us by clients at Money-Back, it has been observed that scammers contact Facebook users through messages that they have won a Facebook lottery.
Although it is unheard of before but some clients believe this story by thinking that Facebook must have introduced this new feature as it continuously updates its features.
How It Is Done
The scammers message the victim and tell him that your name has been shown in the lucky draw of a Facebook lottery. To satisfy the target, they also show some fake lists with the name of some winners including this particular target. The target is then asked to click on a link that takes him to a new website where some more material is presented to manipulate him.
On this site, the victim is asked to fill out a form that requires some personal information as well as Facebook ID and password. In this way, they gain complete control over his/her account.
After this, the actual scam begins when they ask to deposit some money to claim your prize. People with hopes of getting rich and blinded by the false dreams of huge money transfer their money in the accounts of scammers. Once they transfer the money, they demand more by saying that if you deposit more money your prize will be doubled.
